Howdy! I have 24GB of RAM installed, and I have a couple of issues. Seems like I have two different G.Skill types installed, and I also have two more sticks that I could put in. Here are the details:
Intel Core i7 3930K Socket 2011 LGA @ 3.20GHz
Asus P9X79 Pro
Set to Bios XMP profile #1
Currently installed:
#1 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBZL
#2 empty
#3 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBZL
#4 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBZL
#5 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-14900CL9-4GBZL
#6 empty
#7 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-17000CL11-4GBZL
#8 PC3-12800 (800MHz) G.Skill F3-17000CL11-4GBZL
When I put them in the empty slots, the system doesn't recognize it, and the bios reports that there are two 'abnormal' sticks, but i'm not sure if it's the new sticks that is 'abnormal.' Without them, the BIOS reports everything is OK.
Should it be set to XMP?
Can I do anything with these sticks?
What's the most economical way to get to 32GB that will work?
