Hey all,

I've been toying around with the idea of upgrading the ram on my gaming PC. When I initially built the machine a couple years back, I was operating under the assumption that higher frequency memory offered negligible increases in performance. However, I've come across some articles and threads that indicate better ram can offer as much as a 10% performance increase in certain games. I recently bought a second GPU and was wondering if upgrading from 1600Mhz CL9 to something in the 2133-2400Mhz range would be justified to help me take advantage of my dual GPU setup with a light CPU overclock. Here's my setup:

i5 4670k
Asus Z87-Pro
(2) XFX r9 280x in crossfire
Samsung Evo 120GB SSD (OS)
Crucial MX200 500GB SSD
Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600Mhz 16gb (2x8) CL9
Corsair RM850 PSU
Corsair C70 Case

Thanks in advance,

I don't think you'll see much difference in performance from 1600 to 2400. For gaming anyway. Maybe for video editing.

Granted, the first article identifies improvements primarily in certain games and the second article is likely a ploy to sell more expensive ram.
