Hey guys I recently built my pc back in march of this year using the following components:
Evga 970 sc
intel i5 4670k
12gb ram
Now for some reason I get some bad framerates on games such as Gta v, The witcher 3, and even minecraft I can't get above 55ish. I was wondering what is going on since I have this powerful gfx card. (I am sort of a scrub when it comes to pc building, just built my first one in March) Thanks for helping if you can!

A decent amount but not that much that would cause all of these games to have terrible fps

Even 2x MSAA can reduce your framerate by 20% that's why so many sites for benchmarking don't even turn on anti-aliasing. Try turning it off or using FXAA or SMAA which are much less taxing on your GPU. Also are your drivers up to date and did you do a fresh install if they are?

On the GTX 970, it may cause it.

The GTX 970 has 4GB of VRAM, but it's partitioned in 3.5GB of fast VRAM and another 0.5GB of very slow VRAM (1/8 of the speed). You will only notice the a reduced performance when the GPU starts to use the 0.5GB partition.

It could be another thing what causes your bad performance, but that's the most probable if you're using more than 4x Anti-Aliasing on high settings.

I have turned the anti aliasing off and that seems to have done it, but is it normal to pc games that small things such as fences and stuff render in at such a small distance relative to where I am? I just got into pc gaming.
