I recently had to RMA my EVGA 780 ti sc acx card and was told that the solution would be to receive a replacement card. Fast forward to today and the package arrived and inside was was the 970 ssc (Didn't know super superclocked was a thing). What I wanted to ask is would you be happy with this trade? and do you think the 970 ssc is on power with the 780 ti sc? According to EVGA they said that the 970 should be faster but im pretty skeptical. Also a big problem is the fact that I am essentially losing out on £200 from the original 780 ti. Sorry if this post is a bit long, just want to make sure I asked everything I needed to know. Thanks in advance.

Also just to note, they have offered me a replacement 780 ti if I want it but of course to the hastle of sending the card back to germany.

I would absolutely be happy with that upgrade. You get more VRAM, better efficiency, MFAA, and more overclocking headroom.

At release, the GTX 970 performance was comparable to the GTX 780 Ti. But now with some of the recent game releases, the 970 has taken a clear performance lead.

Here's a look at what I mean that the more recent games are favoring Maxwell over Kepler.

I think you got the short end of the stick there and you should have taken this up with them. I too RMAed a 780ti SC with ACX (europe based as well) and they sent me a 980 FTW as replacement. While 970 is ahead (by a very short margin) or on par with a 780ti on some games, in most of them it lags behind and it is a sidegrade/downgrade to a 780ti, not to mention this is a card that retails for the HALF of a 780ti. You paid a premium for Nvidia former flagship GPU and a further one to buy the solution with ACX cooling. You should dispute your replacement as it is not really suitable.
