My friend wants a 3k build, even if it's over kill. I recommenced this, but I'd like people with more knowledge to make edits of they see something that could be better. He has said that it must be a 2 way set up for the gpu and have 2 or 3 monitors.

Complete waste of money. 3 way Xfire is a very bad idea with the scaling and the limited lanes from the processor.
Anybody that says they must spend 3K has very bad judgment. You can get to a point where you spend a extra 30% in money for a 0 to 5% increase in performance.
Overpriced motherboard, not really adequate CPU cooling to overclock, wrong memory choice for a quad channel board.

The others are right. My suggestion: go to 2way SLI using GTX980 cards. Drop the arctic silver, the compound that comes with the cooler is good stuff. With that you can get away with, easily, a 1000watt psu and still be way overpowered. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA24G28N1703).
That AZZA case looks very nice and has good airflow, but you might want to consider this Cooler Master:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119260
You won't need extra fans with it. (Buy where you can find the best prices and shipping, I use Newegg for illustration)
Those changes should give one heckuva performing system for about the price point he want to spend.
