So I have a 750w power supply and a GTX 970 with a AMD FX 4350 in my build. However, whenever I play Crysis 3 and GTA V I get considerable amounts of CPU bottlenecking. I am looking for a cheap enough upgrade and have someone lined up to buy my 4350 but I am wondering what I could possibly upgrade to. The 8350 has 8 cores but I don't even know if these two games utilize those cores. It has the same clock speeds at the 4350 so theoretically the upgrade wouldn't really make much of a difference right? or am I wrong? Please help.

Solution
Clocks speeds are far from the only thing that dictates performance. It comes down to architecture and IPC as well.
For you, the cheapest upgrade would be an 8320, the extra cores and some heavy OCing may help you increase performance in gaming, not to mention alleviate the bottleneck with that current processor.

However, if you could invest in something such as a 4590 or 4690k and an H97 or Z97 motherboard, you would get much better upgraded performance.
That being said, it would cost you much more than an upgrade to an 8320.

you should see some decent gains from the 8350.
