I have a dell Inspiron 660 with an Intel i3 lga 1155 socket and was wondering about upgrading to an i5. Is it possible?

You can upgrade to any third generation core i5. Here are a few that are compatible. There is nothing on the internet about trying an i7 in this machine and thanks to dell, we don't have a cpu compatibility list. I think an i7 would work, however, we wont know until someone tries it.

Anything else most likely would not work since it will be limited by BIOS. 660 is out of production already, so no BIOS upgrades are possible.
