Just like the tittle says, i just finished making my pc and i just finished installing windows 7 but now, my Ethernet isnt being detected. My wireless adapter works fine but its just the ethernet that isnt connecting. Where the cords goes into the motherboard, the 2 orange and green lights are on and the router's side is definitely working. Any solutions? Did i not enable something in the windows settings?

nate check in the bios first under onboard devices make sure the onboard ethernet is on. on a new build you need to install the mb chipset drivers from the cd first then reboot and from the same cd the ethernet drivers are there. then with the port working go to the mb or intel or amd and downlaod the newest mb drivers for your mb. most times the cd is a year old drivers.

Install the network drivers off the cd or go to the manufactures webpage and download them using another computer. A fresh windows install does not always install network drivers, and when it does the drivers are generic. Its best practice to install all drivers yourself even if windows has already installed them, this will insure that you have the latest drivers for each piece of hardware you have.
