I have this PSU sitting around without a home, and I recently bought my Dad the mobo + CPU listed below. If anyone has any opinions, I'd be happy to hear 'em.

I realize that old PSUs require a couple BIOS changes to play nice with Haswell, but I was looking for opinions if I should bother in my case. My case being, I have this PSU stored out of state, so I'm not sure if it'll wind up costing a third of a new modern PSU after all is said and done, but I know it was a great unit in its day.

I got this combo for around $88 on a deal, so the only money I'll be adding to that is a SATA DVD burner and possibly a third party cooler (assuming the stock is loud/not as efficient...not sure how hot this chip runs as it's been a while since I read the reviews, i'll revisit them when it comes time.)

There won't be a gaming graphics card added to this setup any time in the near future.

Thanks guys :)

Solution
If the PSU wasn't extensively used at full load when it was used you should be fine.

Just disable C7 in the BIOS and you'll be good to go.

And the G3258 stock cooler should more than suffice for a light overclock (4.2GHZ on average) without being too noisy.
