hi guys
Since the 32 bit is almost completely out of date i wanted to know something before i could install 64 bit windows. My motherboard is Intel D945GCR and i have 2gb of DDR2 RAM installed ( 2X1 GB stick).I want to install 2 gb more of the same stick. My processor and desktop board box says its 64 bit built but on the back the RAM slot it say 2gb MAX. But on crucial.com it gave me this msg :- MAX MEMORY - 4096 MB i.e 4gb. so can i install 4GB total memory on this system? And also if i cannot what will happen if i still do?
Thanks

"2GB Max" means per slot. So you can install a 2GB RAM module in each of the two slots, giving a you a total maximum of 4GB.

I don't agree with your statement that 32-bit Windows "is almost completely out of date".

Many processors, both old and new, don't support 64-bit Windows, and even Microsoft themselves have released their latest OS in 32-bit & 64-bit versions. The same will apply to Windows 10. Millions of users either can't or don't want to install 64-bit Windows - - Microsoft isn't going to abandon them any time soon, if they did they would lose millions of customers to Apple or Linux.

Make sure you can get 64-bit drivers for everything (including your peripheral hardware) before you rush into 64-bit OS.

Thank you so much for helping phillip! And by saying that 32 bit is almost completely out of date i meant with the concern of games and a few other applications not in general. I have the drivers for the 64 bit so thanks a lot!
