Am I able to run games in 60fps with my set up? (PC)

I'm currently playing GTA V and Witcher 3 and they seem to run at around 30fps. I've heard that updating my drivers (which I THINK I have) and downloading Razer game booster will help with my fps, but can I reach 60fps with my set up?

CPU: Intel Core i7 3770
RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3
Graphics: 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series
Windows 7

Let me know if you need to know anything else -- not that knowledgeable in what this jargon means. Thanks.

Thanks.

You need to do some experiments.

Set resolution to 1080p., turn off AA, shadows, and every other effect you can, and see what FPS you can get. If you get 60FPS or more, start turning things back on, one step and one setting at a time. You may find that one particular thing is slowing you down.

Have you checked your CPU and GPU temperatures?

What benchmarks do you get for your system using Unigine Heaven, and PCMark Fire Strike and others? That way we can check your system against standards. These benchmarks are available for free download from Steam or other sites.

Downloading drivers will not double your frames count. You can definitely reach 60fps if you lower the settings a bit. The requirements of this game are not insane and you have a decent PC. (The fact that this game exists on console is evidence to support my point :p)

Hi, isn't the GPU what I put under graphics? Resolution: 1920x1080. AA? Anti-Aliasing? Yes, I have this selected as active.

Hi. It definitely boosts my fps - doesn't get me to 60fps though. My PC is hand built, surely I should be able to run games at 60fps so I don't know why they run at around 30.

Well I have lowered the settings to reach a frame rate at around 30. Putting everything on ultra puts my fps to around 15-20fps. You say I have a decent PC in which I would assume as it was hand built to specifically play games and what not - no idea why I cant play 60fps.

The 7800 Series consists of two cards, the 7850 and 7870. The 7850 is 200Mhz slower than the 7870.

As has been mentioned above, your GPU needs to be better. (a lot better)

So this is why I can't play at 60fps? Surely there's other things I can do to boost my fps though? Something I'm missing?

Yes, on Payday 2, it goes to like 120fps I believe. Crazy.

As your answers explains that trial and error is needed with many suggestions, I'll leave it there.

I downloaded razer cortex and after playing around with a few settings, my fps is around 35-50 at times. Although, in the cinematics after you die, the game goes to 18-27.

Anyhow, I am happy with the performance I am getting now . Willing to appreciate that it could better, but could be worse.
