does GPU brands matter if your watercooling them?

im getting 2 GTX 980 SLI and i'll be watercooling them but i just dont know which brand to get people sayy get the classified other say get the G1 and other say that it doesnt matter cause with watercooling you can go as high as you want with overcloacking them and go as high as you want with there boost clock is that true?

if not then which brand do i get?

In *general* with name brand cards, you'll get slightly better quality chips with the cards that come factory clocked higher because they tend to use chips that bin tested better (some brands do this, some don't and just rely on the better cooling package). Overall, though, I doubt you'd see a huge difference, so if the price isn't too much more go with the higher base clocked cards, but don't sweat it too much.
