I've just reinstalled Windows 7 on my sister's PC and now it won't detect the wireless networking adapter (TP-Link TL-WN781ND). I installed all the necessary drivers, starting with the chipset, but when I try to install the drivers for the wireless adapter, I get a message saying "the device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system". I'm not really too knowledgeable with this sort of stuff, so any advice is greatly appreciated, no matter how simple it may seem.

Thanks in advance.

Try re-seating the WiFi card as there may be a poor connection between the card's edge-connector and the contacts in the PCIe slot.

By "re-seating" I mean pull it out then push it firmly back in (observe usual precautions to avoid electrostatic discharge from your fingers).

Then try installing it's driver again.

I just tried and unfortunately nothing seems to have changed. Thanks anyway.

So it's possibly the WiFi card itself that has died.

If it's not listed in Device Manager under "Network devices" and the driver installer cannot find it, assume that it's dead and replace it.
I recommend you buy a Netgear or D-Link one (or a Belkin one if you've no other choice).
