So I bought a Windows 7 Home Premium and I noticed that the Professional was around the same price. Should I have bought the professional?
I am planning to stream games, play games, and do a little bit of editing
Would it make a difference?
Well, actually, I did upgrade my home premium to Professional. Let me give you the run-down. Essentially, Professional has more stuff like connecting to projectors, but that's not too important. Now the interesting thing is that Home Premium will only accept a total of 16 GB of RAM. Professional and Enterprise and Ultimate on the other hand, take 192 GB of RAM. That's a major increase. For me, the added stuff is slightly useless, as I too am a gamer, but I have noticed that on some games, like Warframe, playing on Max settings, I got a base line number of 29 FPS. However, with Professional, I'm getting 30-35 frames per second with no fps drops. It's all in the matter if you prefer all the stuff that will come with Professional or if it's just the straight-up OS we all know and love. It can be finicky understanding exactly the more technical side of professional and what it comes with it, like the Remote Desktop Connection. It's all on your part whether you'd spare a lot of extra features for a high performance, or go with Home Premium with a rather "clean" OS. It's your choice. Hope I helped!
