mac to pc - Need help building first rig please

Hello there!
I am done with macs and am trying to build a new pc. my budget is around $1k and was hoping i could get some input on this build i found online

CPU Intel Core i5-4690K
FAN CM Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO MSI Z97 PC MATE LGA 1150
GPU MSI GTX 970
RAM Crucial Ballistix 8GB
SSD Crucial MX 100 128GB
HDD Western Digital Blue 1 TB
CASE Corsair Carbide SPEC-01
PSU XFX Core Edition PRO550W
ODD Samsung 24x SATA

You've got the right idea, just needs a couple small tweaks. The Z97 PC Mate is not a good board for overclocking. Get something with 8 power phases and VRM heatsinks like the Asus Z97-A. I would also get the new BX100/MX200 drives from Crucial (or Samsung 850 Evo) rather than the MX100. Everything else looks pretty good. Here's what my changes would look like:
