Mu uncle recently sent me his computer and it has an older graphics card in it which is a Nvidia GTX 295 and the processor is a Intel Core i7 920 @ 2.67 GHz (8 CPUS's) I was thinking about getting a new graphics card in which would be the GTX 980 do you guys think I need a new graphics card or processor I like to play and stream all different types of games. I would also like to know if that graphic card would be compatible with my mother board which is a Alienware 0h869m I tried looking on some pc building websites to see if I could find my motherboard and try to see what is compatible with it but I haven't had any luck.

yes a GTX 980 is the better choice, but you could probably better benefit from a GTX 970 and a new CPU + motherboard, or even a 960.
The main problem is your CPU IS actually kinda old, and falls behind even low grade modern i5s:

A 980 is nearly as expensive as an entire computer, and i7 920 might hold it back in some games. But likely your RAM would also be incompatiable with a new motherboard as well because it's weird triple channel ram that just isn't really used anymore. (it's either single, dual, or quad nowadays)

The choice is kind of between a power graphics card and a meh cpu or a balanced system with a weaker GPU but stronger CPU.

Yeah I know that most of the parts are a little old and that I would have to get some new stuff eventually but I was debating between a processor or a graphics card and I defiantly agree that the 980 is pretty much like a new computer so I might just get a decent graphics card and processor instead of having some crazy graphics card and older processor.
