Hi ,
I just received my new Samsung SSD and I am very new to how to migrate or deal with windows on drives. How would I migrate just windows to the SSD and be able to keep all of my apps onto the hard drive. Also i am dual booting with GRUB on ubuntu and i am guessing that it wont know that he boot drive for windows changed. I know how to update it but that requires going into linux after I have installed windows on my current drive.

I am using:

new Samsung 850 EVO
WD Blue 1 TB (75% full)

Thanks

Hey there, tihor29.

You can't migrate just the OS, but you can migrate the whole partition/s of your choice as I understand it. I'd recommend that you go the the SSD manufacturer's sight to take a look at the possible options of its data migration software and a guide on how to do everything.
You could still take a look at this article on upgrading to an SSD and how to prepare your drive for it: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows. It has a lot of useful info and tips on what to do.

Hope that helps.
