Hello there!

I recently asked about a build that was around 1000$ and got a great response and decided to up my budget and was hoping to get some more great advice! How does this build look? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

CPU - Intel Core i7-4790K
FAN - CM Hyper 212 EVO
MOBO - ASUS Z97 PRO LGA 1150
GPU - MSI GTX 970 (SLI x2)
RAM - Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB
SSD - Crucial MX 200 250GB
HDD - Western Digital Blue 1 TB
CASE - Corsair Obsidian 750D
PSU - XFX PRO850W
ODD Samsung 24x SATA

Also if you could recommend any smaller cases that would be nice as well! Thank you!

An i5 is not better than an i7, in Crysis 3. THG even recommended an i7, for Crysis 3, when they reviewed it.

Stick with the i7, for sure, given those programs. If...

looks fine i would recommend getting black series for the hard drive just more reliable and better warranty. As well if this is a gaming rig which i am guessing it is you could just use an i5 4690k it is a beast at gaming sometimes even better than the i7 4790k in some games (crisis 3) and 16 gb might be overkill for ram.

@PCGrandWizard - I see! On top of gaming I will also be using programs like 3dsmax, maya, unreal editor, etc. would it still be more than alright to get the i5 4690k? and how much ram would you recommend? And thanks for the quick response!

It is fine to use SLI on GPUs you jsut have to make sure that you wont get exactly double the frame rate you would with a single GPU
Also it is good to know that only SOME games support SLI but most AAA titles do.

Stick with the i7, for sure, given those programs. If not into overclocking, a Xeon 1231v3 is a good alternative. Whether you should go 2x cards or not, depends on what monitor resolution you intend to run.
