Can I plug a 3-pin CPU heatsink into a 4-pin connector?

I bought a new Zalman 2 Ball CPU heatsink.

Theres an ASST_FAN thats a 3-pin @ 12V

Then theres the CPU_FAN that doesn't give a specific voltage, but is 4-pin

The fans input says 12V, and is a 3-pin female.

Should I plug into ASST_FAN or just line up the right wires for the 4-pin CPU_FAN

Last time I thought I was lining up the right wires for something...I blew a motherboard...hehe

Solution
yes, you can plug that into a 4 pin cpu_fan header. I just did this on my grandson's new build. Make absolutely certain that you are plugging it in with the connectors properly oriented: there should be only one way.

Okay, thank you. I though it was kind of strange that the guide was a little to the left

My heatsink also came with a controller. It doesn't say where it plugs in, just says 6V MAX. Could that plug into one of my CHA_FAN connectors?

Finally, the 2-pin connectors, for LEDs and such, have a side with a small arrow on it. Is it safe to assume this is the positive side?

Zach, I am at a loss to tell you where to plug in a heat sink controller; there should be a manual with it if it has a controller and that should tell you where to connect it.
As for the LEDs, those usually plug into a 2pin power connector that is, like the 3pin fan, keyed only one way. One thing that might help, depending upon the LED wiring, is that all-black wiring is almost always a ground or negative wire. So black-to-black/ colored-to-colored.
