Ok first of all im aware i need to upgrade my cpu so you intel elite try and restrain yourself from doing the inevitable and telling me how great your i5s and i7s are.

So im wondering if those of you who are smarter than me have any wisdom to bestow about overclocking my 6300 to work better with my shiny new gtx 970. I have a stock cooler (because im broke, but ill get one next paycheck) but my cpu seems to run surprisingly cool anyways (like topping around 85 Fahrenheit during games) so thats not really a major concern. But i obviously dont really want to do any overkill clocking because of this limitation.

So my question is basically what settings would you guys recommend I use to best fit the 970 without doing crazy overkill settings?

Also any tips for a overclock virgin because this will be my first time doing it and i know very little about it and much less where im supposed to put my penis.

System Specs:
Cpu: fx6300
gpu: gtx 970 (evga superclocked acx blah blah whatever)
Psu: 750 watt
mobo: Asus m5a97 le r2.0

My biggest tip is to do your research and my second biggest tip is to take your time. A lot of people make the mistake of jumping straight in without understanding what they're doing, and when things go wrong, they don't know how to fix them.

There are a lot of good overclocking guides out there and this is the one I used; http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/272214-29-wolfram-beginner-guide-overclocking.
