Which Mechanical Keyboard Is Better?

As the title above states, which mechanical keyboard is better in general?
the CM Storm Quickfire Tk, or the Razer Blackwidow?

There is like a 20-30$ difference (CM is cheaper) and they're both the clicky blue switches which I like :). Which one would last longer (which has better build quality) and just better in general?

Solution
Before 2014, Razer was using Cherry MX switches. They switched to their own custom switches in 2014 and those are made be Kailh. Custom Cherry MX would result in too high of a price. Plus Razer warranties the switches for 50 mil keystrokes, much higher than Cherry MX does.

It has those, it is just integrated into the numberpad. The razer Blackwidow is inferior, it does not use actual cherry switches.

Yeah, I saw them. But if you use Excel for 8 hours a day like I do, it's a deal-breaker. If he is only worried about gaming then I suppose it's fine.

Yea, I have a full keyboard, I can't lose the functionality of the numpad and the home/end keys etc. I have to input numbers into my computer alot and it feels a lot more natural for me to use a number pad, especially as I use a calculator alot. The TK is a good compromise for someone who doesn't use the numpad very much but would still like the option. Of course if you are gaming (which most people are) the tenkeyless will be fine

Also OP, I assumed you were talking about the tenkeyless blackwidow. The new razer boards do not have cherry switches, they have chinese copies that are inferior. So in regards to your question the cm will last longer and has better build quality, it also includes a numberpad. imo razer keyboards are much too expensive for what they are, they don't even use cherry switches.

If they don't use cherry switches what do they use? And the CM Storm uses real quality cherry switches right?

The new 2014 Razer keyboards use their own mechanical switches, designed by them, built by Kailh. They are basically their own version of the Blue & Brown, but trigger earlier so you don't have to depress the switch as far.

If Cherry MX is the "A-quality" switch and ALPS the "C-quality" switch, think of Kailh as the "B-quality" switch. I tried a keyboard with the ALPS switches, felt cheap, but the keyboard with Kailh switches felt the same to me as the Cherry MX ones, so I wouldn't have any issues getting one.

I have used all 3. The mx switches are the best for me, then ALPS then kailh. The ones on the new blackwidow were not as nice, they felt kind of gritty at times and the keycaps wobbled much more than the caps on my browns.

My current board is a cm storm quickfire xt with browns. I love it.

They are regular kailh switches stamped with a razer logo. They simply say they are custom. I don't know if you have read about cherry switches but they are actually tested and rated for 50 million presses. But anyway, with mechanical keyboards it really comes down to personal preference and I prefer cherry switches vs the kailh knock offs.
