Approximate Purchase Date: Soon as possible

Budget Range: 1000 is ideal cut off point.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com

Location: City, State/Region, Country - USA, TN, Kingsport

Parts Preferences: I prefer Intel processors and Nvidia cards, but wouldn't mind a AMD card if it can hold its own.

Overclocking: maybe

SLI or Crossfire: maybe, but not likely

Your Monitor Resolution: 1366x768
Additional Comments: I just recently got out of the Army and I have been stalking newegg for years looking up gaming computers; its just not been something I could convince myself to spend that much money on. I would like to get back into PC gaming to play games like Witcher 3, Arma 3, and Star Citizen, all intensive type games.

I found this desktop on newegg iBUYPOWER Desktop PC VERSA SERIES NE403I Intel Core i7 4790K (4.0GHz) 8GB DDR3 1TB HDD Windows 8.1 64-Bit ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227602).
I believe I may just be ignorant though and be missing out on building something much better for cheaper. I would like around gtx980 level card because I would like this to last for a few years without worrying about needing to upgrade.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Current computer is going the way of the buffalo.

Thank you guys for the help and input I really appreciate it.

If you are going to keep that monitor your don't need a gtx 980 just get a gtx 960 and you don't need a i7 for gaming get the i5 4690k if you still want a powerfull cpu for gaming. I would recommend to get a 1080p monitor it's like the minimum today.. 4k will become standard within a few years.

Sorry for another question but if I took my current HD out and put it into this new computer, since I have a OS on this harddrive would that work? Or is that not even feasible? Trying to look at what parts I have laying around that I can salvage
