Hello

I have a 1080p 23in IPS monitor.

I want to get a 27in monitor, IPS 1440p. Mainly for graphic design, 3D design and rendering, and movie making.

But would a 27in IPS 1080p monitor be just as well? I know the resolution is smaller on the 1080p and the real estate space will be different but will it still be better than having a 23in monitor?

I needed a larger screen area for my work.

I think that you would be better suited with the higher resolution on the 27 if you are using it for design ect.
things will look much "smoother" if you can say that. it wont be so pixelated, and i believe image quality is a big factor when working with design, movie making ect.
You could also get the 27" 1080p and use it the same way you would use with 1440p, but with very visible pixels.
In my opinion ~24" is the biggest you should go with 1080p on a monitor.

I would recommend a 1440p with 27 inch. That extra investment would deter you from changing monitor again after a few years. The pixel density would also be be noticeable, not just for your productivity work but also daily use. A 25% increase I believe.
