Been out of the game for a while - Looking to build a versatile PC

Hi all,

I've built computers before and built the one that I am using now so I am no stranger to assembling components.

I've recently gotten back in to gaming and I'm feeling that my current PC is a little dated. I'm looking for advice on which way to head for an upgrade...

Current Specs:

AMD FX-6300 Air Cooled Copper Heat Sink
GA-MA78LMT-S2P MOBO
8GB DDR3 RAM
1333Mhz AMD Radeon HD 7850
250GB Samsung Evo SSD
500GB WD HDD
2TB WD HDD
Aereon Asroc 620 Watt PSU
Unattractive self-modified case with custom fan cooling
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

As I haven't been keeping up to date with technology I really have no idea what is and isn't good.

I primarily use my pc for mundane tasks like general admin and youtube type stuff but have begun playing Starcraft II and am hoping to get some current generation games... I am especially keen for Fallout IV when that gets released. I also used to enjoy IL2 Sturmovik, not sure what flight simmers are playing these days.

I have all of the peripherals and a monitor, speakers etc. If I can use any of my old components to keep the price down that would be a bonus. I live in Australia so that will likely drive prices up a bit I imagine.

I'm probably looking to spend about a grand but I am reasonably flexible, obviously the cheaper the better.

I would greatly appreciate any advice that people are willing to send my way.

Cheers,

StolleMan.
