So I bought this complete system from craigslist for $200.

When I looked inside it had a
Gigabyte GA-970A-D3 Motherboard
AMD Athlon II x4 645
4GB Mushkin Essentials DDR3 1333 RAM
640GB WD Black
Coolmax 500W PSU..
AMD Radeon HD 5770

I plan on just hooking it up on my LG 1600x900 Monitor.

Will I need some significant upgrade to run some games on this?
Also what are my upgradability options for this system?
Overall a good deal?

If the Antec VP-450 is available in your region it's almost certainly the best combination of price and quality available in most markets regardless of brand. The Coolmax units are poor quality and dangerous.

Preferably you want a Tier 1 or 2 unit for use with a gaming card or when any overclocking is being done. In this case, the Antec VP-450, which shows on Tier 3 but used to be a Tier 2 unit, would be a good choice. The only reason it was dropped was that it lacks a PFC circuit and doesn't have an 80plus certification due to that which doesn't matter anyhow as 80plus ratings are largely BS anyhow.

You can upgrade the CPU to an FX series with that motherboard.

everything else seems okay. I agree the PSU should be changed. Better go for a good brand. Maybe Seasonic or Antec.
From my experience, Antec VP450P or VP550P would be a good bet.
