Laptop hot & loud fan noises consistent

Hello,

My laptop temperature is quite high and the fan always makes loud noises. It doesn't normally do this, could anyone please shed some light on this?

OUCH!
You will have to open the laptop and clean it completely, change thermal paste and make sure you dont put it on a furry surface.
Might want to buy a cooler pad

Well, with the loud noises and the heat, I'd say your fan might be dying. It's possible that a good cleaning might resolve it, but you might want to start looking into the process of replacing the fan.

Usually the increased noise is due to fan spinning faster... he shouldnt change the fan unless after cleaning it still doesnt change

What's the worst that could happen if I don't fix it within a few weeks?

I don't think I would want to do it myself, most likely take it into an approved dell repair center.

That would be the best thing if you dont know what to do. Worst scenario - your CPU overheats and gets damaged
Before that, however it has a danger fail safe and it should turn off in case your temp goes way too high (over 100 deg)

Usually there's a difference between increased noise and "always makes loud noises", especially when coupled with increased heat.

Just been through diagnostics with Dell and they believe it's the heatsink which will need to be replaced.
