Sorry, that build was not very refined. I have a couple of templates that I use and didnt see only 8gb or ram and a low capacity SSD. Also, the RM PSU was there from when It was went WAYYY cheap at one point so im glad Tchota caught those things.

I would also keep this into consideration of you DO NOT want to overclock. It would save some money (or have more to be used for aesthetics)

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1241 V3 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($254.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus Z97-E ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($89.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Gaming Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)...

3000 usd.

Some people advise me to go for a single card instead (Titan X) as Single card scales better than SLi cards.

No micro stuttering for single card ?

Some people told me to wait for skylake processor, 980 Ti or the upcoming AMD card.300 series card.

Should i wait or go ahead ?

For $3000 I would get this:

waiting or not its hard to say, it will depend on your current system, and how bad you want or need a new PC.

Single card is normally better. The problem is that I dont think you have any single card that can give you similar performance of a SLI system.

You could go with AMD R9 295x2 or 290x2, but I'm not sure if this card have same problems other SLI or crossfire faces. And they have high power consumption.

Anoori, just fyi, there are quite a few reports of the titan Xs performing very unfavorably in the witcher 3 compared to the 970s:
https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/833422/geforce-700-600-series/can-we-get-an-official-response-from-nvidia-regarding-the-witcher-3-and-the-700-series-cards-/
(it's a long thread but they're mentions of it there)
I would say wait for skylake and the 980 Tis

Its not like hes ONLY playing Wichter...

Also there will either be a patch or an Nvidia driver update to fix it...

EDIT: also that was a build for right now... if he wants to wait thats on him. I'm suggesting for this point in time.

Thanks for recommendation.

I have never used a water cooler before. Do i need to change the coolant every year or two ?

my current system is pretty crap.

Intel® Core I5 760 2.8GHZ
HD 5870

I can wait if the new tech is cheaper and better than the current tech.

Yeah, no rush. I'm wonder if Witcher 3 is poorly optimized ?

i will be playing GTA V and the upcoming Batman Arkham Knight too.

If you decide to build right now I would made some changes from Anoori's build (16gb ram, better PSU, cheaper CPU cooler, 500GB SSD, cheaper case):

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor ($315.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($125.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($94.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($187.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($48.60 @ SuperBiiz)

If I was you I would go with a single Titan X or 2xGTX 970

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Corsair/RM1000/11.html
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=346

you could also go with this PSU: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220p21000xr
http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=361

EDIT: new hardware will most likely not be cheaper, it will be a bit faster than current hardware, and when they are released the price of current hardware will probably lower (probably at the same rate of the performance increase). If I was you I would not wait. With that budget I think you wont have any problems buying new hardware in 3 or 4 years. So, if I'm wring in this point, I think there is no need for you to wait the next generation hardware.

I have a Tian X with similar components to your build, most of the time my fps is between 50 - 60 fps.
I overclocked the card for this game.

" You might want to wait and get 2x 980 ti's or whatever they call them...

I get some dips below 50 fps however most of the times this happens in cut scenes... I doubt 2 x Titan X's will give a solid 60 @ 1440p.

According to PC Gamer 2 Titan X's dip below 60 @ 1080p with recording software running

Does your friend have the card?

The Titan X can deliver a solid 60+ in many games however not in the Witcher 3. The performance of a single Titan X is amazing... The Witcher 3 is very demanding maxed out at 1440p.
