I will assume you are not referring to setting up multi instance spanning tree groups but it is the only way I have seen groups referred to in a procurve switch.
You get spoiled using cisco to setup 802.1q trunks. Cisco you put the vlans allowed into the port configuration and you can configure groups of ports at the same time. Of course with the default of allow all vlans make it simple sometime.
HP procurve work the reverse and you put the ports into vlans. It would be really nice if I could

tagged a,b,c,d
Unfortunately they do not allow a nice command like that.
When you get lots of vlans you are really stuck doing them 1 by 1 on a procurve
