I am currently using a Verizon Novatel MiFi 4620L as my primary internet connection and need to connect more then the 10 devices it can handle to the internet. I added a NETGEAR N600 Range Extender to the network and connected all my devices to it, but the N600 seems to hand all the mac address for my devices up to MiFi, and I am still stuck with 10 devices max. Is there a way around this with the N600 or will i need different hardware?

Thanks!

I am surprised the range extender even worked....unless you are running non encrypted.

The way a extender works is it uses it own mac address to open the encrypted session to the main router/ap. It then uses a field called WDS to pass the actual mac address of the end station. The verizon device must support WDS but then still count the mac against the 10 total. I know the hotspots from att do not support WDS

What you need to so is run the "extender" as a router so it only passes its own mac address and then hide the rest behind it using nat.

It is not a common thing for a extender to be able to run as a router but some do have that ability. Any router that can use the wireless as the wan port will work. Generally the simplest way to accomplish this is to use a "extender" in client-bridge mode and then hook it to a standard wan port on a router.
