I pressed the power button on my desktop and it shows Asus motherboard screen as usual, but won't go past that screen? My comp worked last night but today it won't go past that screen. Forgive me if I'm not totally accurate I'm on my smartphone.

Solution
Get to basics. Unplug or remove everything but the minimum necessary to successfully boot. Just keyboard, mouse, GPU (if no integrated) HDD/SSD, one stick of memory etc. See if that can get you past the post. Sometimes something (even as simple as charge cable with nothing even attached) can also cause things to hang.

If it's just showing the Asus motherboard screen, that means that there's something wrong with the hard drive right? I removed the cables connected to the hard drive and waited a minute, plugged them back in and still is hung up. Will try to remove everything but the necessities now

I removed a stick of ram, unplugged my headset, and unplugged my USB wireless adapter and computer started up fine.
Now if I plug these back in, is this going to happen again?

Okay, good! Try putting one item at a time in until it repeats the problem, if it doesn't there are several things that could have been an issue, but let's see if we can repeat the issue first. So again, shut down, insert one item, turn back on. Repeat until everything is back the way it was or the problem presents itself again.
