Hey everyone. I have a M2N68-LA (Ivy) motherboard and I'm wondering if I can use AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000 Brisbane Dual-Core 2.6GHz cpu in it? I know hp's website say's I can only use Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 4800+ (up to 65 watt TDP) but just wanted some opinions. Will I have any problem using the 5000? Thanks for any info.

No, your proc is for an AM2 socket. The board is an AM3.

Socket AM3 processors are able to run on Socket AM2 and AM2+ motherboards with appropriate bios updates, but not vice versa. Socket AM3 breaks compatibility with AM2/AM2+ processors due to a subtle change in key placement.

Yeah maddogfargo that's my board, so are those listed processors the only ones I can use? Because like Saberus says the one I'm looking at is a 65W chip for the AM2 socket. It took me a while to find it online with the Ivy codename looked to me like there where several editions of this board out there. Ive never really done a processor upgrade so I want to be sure I could use the 5000 before ordering, if not I will go with the suggested 4800. Any special thing I have to do as far as bios or anything like that if I upgrade to either of those? Thanks for the responses by the way.
