On video card benchmark, the R9 290X has a synthetically tested score of 6,919 versus the 7950s 4,705. This means that it should come really close to performing about 32% better overall than the 7950, which is basically the original version of the R9 280. The R9 290X is really two or three steps above the 7950, and it probably also has more ram, which is also a great benefit with games that are using more ram every year, especially at 1440P resolution and above. I can pretty confidently say that this near direct translation of 32% should be accurate within 5% because they are both AMD cards, and the R9 series is basically a refresh of the 7000 series cards. So put simply, if you were getting 50FPS on the 7950, you should get about 66...
