Windows 8.1 Crashes During Gaming

Hello,

My computer seems to be crashing because of a software related issue and I do not know what to do other than re install it--for all I know that will not even fix the problem. I do not believe that the system is crashing because of a hardware issue. All hardware used with Windows is nearly new and liquid cooled--all hardware is properly plugged in. Sometimes after a crash Windows flashes me a message saying that the crash could be related to a file name that should be changed to prevent future crashes and it asks me if it should rename it--doing so does not fix the issue.

It is worth noting that some pirated software was installed on this computer recently--but as far as that is concerned: the software in question did not effect the system before.... Regardless, all pirated software was deleted. Afterwards I performed a full system scan with Windows Defender which detected several suspicious files and those files were deleted. The system still crashes, but again, only after about thirty minutes of gaming. Use of less intensive applications does not seem to effect the system.

What can I do to fix this problem? Can someone please help...?

Thank you,

Brian

Could you please shed some light on how antivirus paid subsriptions are completely unnecessary ?

Edit: I could save some money each year if you could give a nice response. :clin:

Hardware Monitor shows idle temperatures that are perfectly normal given the cooling system used.... But I will test load temperatures too in case there are abnormalities....

Windows Defender, which is scanning at the moment, shows the same malicious hardware that I supposedly deleted last night is still on the system. If deleting it again does not solve the problem then maybe I'll reinstall the OS. That would really be a shame--migrating my OS to a SSD and numerous games to a HDD took about a week....

Thank you both for your input.

Many of the free AV applications are just as effective as a paid Norton application.

Currently, I use the free level of BitDefender.
Some AV is needed, Paid, not so much.

See this: http://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/
and this: http://www.av-comparatives.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/avc_factsheet2015_04.pdf
and this: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2320704/antivirus-free-antivirus-paid-antivirus.html

None are 100%. The best AV exists between your ears.

Windows Defender detected suspicious files that I probably wouldn't have found alone....

My system's load temperatures are normal all across the board so the issue at hand for me is software related...

Windows Defender--after a full system scan--located a single suspicious file that was not detected or deleted last night to my knowledge.... The file was deleted and if my system crashes again within the hour then I will re-install Windows.

Thank you both for your input.... Time will tell if Windows Defender is the ultimate AV software....

Follow Up:

A "clean install" of Windows appears to have solved the issue. Since the reinstallation, a game has been running for more than an hour and has not crashed. Before the reinstallation, a game crashed after just over thirty minutes.

Bottom Line:

DO NOT PIRATE VIDEO GAMES, SUPPORT SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS, TOMSHARDWARE RULES.

Thanks for the support y'all....
