ok so I currently have an I5 3570k CPU which i've had since it was released and I'm wondering if its worth me upgrading it? I'm planning on upgrading my GPU to an R9 290x or an R9 390x if its in an affordable price range on its release,

I do a lot of video recording and rendering of games and stuff so... dunno if i should keep this current CPU or upgrade

Solution
Upgrading to an i7-3770k will help a lot with the rendering and to ensure that you will not have bottlenecks if you decide to run two GPUs in crossfire or SLI. Other than that, your current CPU will handle an R9-390X just fine, even at stock speed.
Well it depends. The i5 3rd Gen is still an excellent gaming cpu and you don't have any reason to change it as it won't bottleneck even the best gpus. For rendering, the i7 really earn there worth as it will cut rendering time with hypertreading technology.

Do you render professionally or for fun? If for fun, decide if reduced render times are worth the cost for you. If for profit... let's discuss how much you're making per hour, what programs you use, do you think you could secure more business if you rendered faster, etc.

its more of a for fun instance and i can render 20 minutes of footage in like 35 minutes currently so... its not too bad as it is.... was just curious if the i5 3570k had been dethroned considerably in the past year or two was all and if it was worth upgrading it
