right this is my machine i want to upgrade the graphics card i was thinking about taking out the xfx r9 280x 3gb replacing it with the SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB so i will have SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB and a SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB in my machine will that work well...or would you say try and sell both my cards and try and get two SAPPHIRE HD 7970 GHz Edition 6GB..im just trying to get the best for my money i ent got a lot to spend about 250 i want to boost up my graphics..this is my spec kind regards and thanks

yes and no.

in games xfire works, no, your two 7970s will be better.

however xfire doesn't work for many titles for the 7970, and in other titles it works but has a lot of stuttering issues. I would prefer if i was in your shoes to replace the pair of cards with 1 stronger card

-that said your budget is sort of an issue. i didn't realize you already had 2 hd 7970s... i thought you had...
the issue you'll have is even if you mix the 6gb and 3gb versions of that card, is only 3gb will be availible in xfire. I would suggest you sell your current hd 7970, and either get a r9-290/290x or gtx 970 with the extra $$ you get from selling the hd 7970.

so sell both the cards in the machine you mean pal, iv only got about 250 to spend just trying to boost it a bit more or would a new i7 cpu work and just keep the two cards, thanks for helping.

Since you have two of them, i'd probably not do anything. and keep saving money. There might be a great deal on a gpu or pair of gpus that will give you better performance, but for now it looks like you're kind of locked in.
