As it says on the tin:

I plan to add a GTX 770 4GB to my AMD A8 Richmond (full specs below) - NB: i am getting the GTX 770 for free from a freind; yes i am aware it will be held back by my APU but should still boost me from current position considerably apparently.

Currently running the below specs off of an A-550 BR (listed teir 5 on the rankings here for PSU). I am quite new to all of this but from what ive gathered so far from another thread this PSU lacks the necesary PCI-e Connectors required.

My Question is; What PSU would you recommend??

Also for my own knowledge how do I know which PSUs are compatible with my requirements; so for eg how is the PSU power requirements calculated?

Futhermore are there any strict rules when looking at PSUs (like; this brand doesnt go with AMD etc etc)?? The analogy here is think learning to tie your shoe laces, thats the level of knowledge im at =p

Notes; - nothing too high end, just enough to support the whole system well & safely enough on a reasonable budget.

Full specs:

amd a8 6600k black edition richland quad core
4 x 4.2ghz heat / sink & fan
memory 8GB DDR 3 1600 Hz
Hard Drive 1TB 7200rpm
Motherboard: GigaByte F2A58-m Socket FM2 + HDMI, DVI-D mATX
Graphics: ATi APU Up to 4Gb + ATi Radeon HD8570D
Directx 11 With PCI-e Slot Free upgrade
Tower case: ACE 550Watt Fan Front USB Free Uprgade
Win 7

Thanks in advance

Richard

Hi, thanks for the starting ground!

Just to check though; some of those in the second link have different amounts/types of PCI-e connection things (either "PCI-Express 6+2-Pin Connectors" or "PCI-Express 6-Pin Connectors"). Will any of these work with any GTX 770??

And also how have you calculated that 620Watts is the min power requirement? Or is this some common knowledge or spec detail that i cant find?

Futhermore I just realised while searching that there are lots of different models of GTX 770... are they similar in requirements? Power/PCI-e wise. I am getting the GTX 770 for free but hadnt thought to ask what brand it was as didnt think it mattered overly.
