So I just got my new pc in the mail today, slaved over it for a couple hours building it, lost my windows 7 disc and am having to use Ubuntu until I can torrent windows for the time being. Problem is Ubuntu sucks (my opinion, don't mean to offend, to each his own, etc). Currently it is not connecting to the internet. I'm plugged in through an Ethernet cable but Ubuntu is just giving me this loading WiFi symbol and then says connection disconnected. PC doesn't have WiFi or the proper drivers to get WiFi yet so I'm stuck with cables. Ive tried typing In some command to restart the connection and also install some program but that failed, program couldn't be installed somehow. So basically what I'm asking at this point is if anyone out there knows a fix to my internet problem with the latest (14.xxx.xx) version of Ubuntu or can suggest me a way to get windows or around this dilemma asap. Cuz right now I'm staring at $700 brick because of ubuntu.

UPDATE: It's doing the same thing even when connected to wifi, was able to browse for a couple minutes though.

UPDATE: I'm literally playing Mahjong on an 8 core pc right now.

Solution
You need to go into bios and enable IOMMU. If for some reason that doesn't work you should be able to use 32bit ubuntu, but with it enabled 64bit should work.
