My brand new HP Omen has been running fine for about a week but now is running really slow. It is no longer heating up when opening cpu or gpu intensive programs are opened. I made sure to set the computer to high performance in the power thing. Could somebody explain what's happening?
Laptop Specs:
I7-4710hq
gtx 860m
Pci-Based 256gb ssd
8gb ram
All drivers are the latest
Thank You in advance!

Solution

Figured Out the problem, computer for some reason thought it was not plugged in even though it definitely is. Just turned off computer and unplugged it. Everything is back to normal processor clocked back at 3+Ghz.
Greetings,

When's the notebook slow? Boot time? Playing games? Running system?

Can You post us Crystal Disk Info screenshot? Can You run memtest?

And also, what AVS do You use? If You don't have any additional software for antimalware protection, please install malwarebytes and hitmanpro [trial].

It's slow on everything. Even web browsing is now slow. Used to be able to run GTA 5 medium settings at 60+ fps, now won't even run at 5 fps. What I also noticed is that the computer isn't at all getting hot. It's as if the processor+GPU refuses to clock upwards when opening running applications. Read and Write speeds are perfectly normal. Even the computer still boots quickly. Load times in games are still fast but performance is horrendous.

Can You confirm that You run on dedicated graphics card, and not on iGPU? Some update might have gone through, and may have turned off Your GTX 860m, which would explain everything. Can You confirm that You're running 860m in games? [MSi Afterburner should do the trick here].

Yeah. I think I may have found a problem though. The processor is stuck @0.75ghz no matter what applications I'm using. I think the GPU may also be downclocked as well. I'll have to check.

Before attempting to flash a new BIOS, make sure it is not a power saving issue caused by the OS. Did you install any new updates/programs recently?

Edit: Sorry, didn't see your last post. Glad you solved your problem.

I believe I set it to high performance, but for some reason the computer needed a restart to realize that it was plugged in and not on powersavings mode.
