I have a CrossfireX build of an r9 280x and a HD 7970. My question is, is it possible to configure clocks for single GPU and the Multi GPU mode. I'm asking this because the 7970 has a bad cooler, while the 280X is a DD edition.

If someone doesn't understand the question. I'm basically asking is it possible to automatically increase the clocks on the 280X when it's running in non-multi GPU programs.

Solution
Yes, just have the 280x as your main card, when you disable crossfire then you can oc and the first card (280x) it will be the only card used with the oc. When you enable crossfire just reset the oc.

When in multigpu mode both cards run at the same clock speeds.
I'm not sitting in front of my CrossFire rig at the moment but, you should be able to create a profile in CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and then manually edit the settings per card. Easiest way to find the profile that CCC creates on the hard drive would be to give it a unique name and then search for a file by that name on your hard drive. The profiles are saved in a text format.
