Hi everyone,
I was transferring some files from my internal HDD to my USB 3.0 stick.
Everything went as normal, until I tried to copy a certain (small) folder of videos.
It was stuck on the "searching" and "calculating" part, and when I tried to abort, it didnt work.
The strange this is: earlier I copied this same file from my external HDD to internal HDD without any problems.
What could cause this problem?

HDD is WD Green (NTFS) and USB stick is Sandisk (FAT32)

File name is Stargate SG-1 Season 03 Extra 02 - Designing New Worlds
Path is: E:\Video\Series\Stargate\#1 Stargate SG-1\#Extras\Season 03\Stargate SG-1 Season 03 Extra 02 - Designing New Worlds
File size is only 60MB

I also just noticed, one of my torrents stopped downloading, talking about an I/O error. Is something wrong with my HDD?

Interesting, I don't see anything that would violate FAT32 rules.

That should copy fine, so either something is wrong with the file, or the USB drive. Will it copy to any other flash drive? I would try a format on the flash drive, not that it should make any difference, but who knows. You can also try and re-copy the file to another folder on the PC, and then try and copy that file. I know it make no sense, but sometimes it makes a difference.

Hi there Shadowsteppa,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. :(
So the USB works just fine on another system right? Have you tried transferring other files?

You need to test the drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and check out its health status. In case there is something wrong with it, you need to back up the data stored on it as soon as possible. After that, in case the drive is still under warranty, you can contact WD's Support and eventually RMA the drive.
Also, I/O error could be associated with some connection related issues. So, it may be a good idea to try using different cables(SATA and power). You can connect the drive to another port as well.

I guess you can run Disk Check as well: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/433-disk-check.html

Let me know how this goes,

On the 21st of april 2015 I bought a Western digital / Caviar Green 2TB WD20EZRX through an online retailer called afuture.nl After a month or 2, I started having problems when copying files from/to the hard drive. Also, suddenly a download stopped and gave an I/O disk error.

I started to back up my files, but some files in some folders couldnt be copied, so I lost some data. I ran WD Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics on it, the Quick Test failed and it said 'Status code = 07 (failed read test element), Failure Checkpoint = 97 (Unknown Test) Smart self-test did not complete. I did some searching on the web and on forums, and it seems like this disk is afflicted by bad sectors. (?)

So earlier today I tried to register my product for warranty, but it gave me this message: 0 product(s) were registered out of 1. The following asset(s) failed to register: because it’s either an OEM product or the warranty has been voided. For further assistance, please contact the WD support team WMC4M0E4ZSSX

When I tried to create new support case, it said: "An error was encountered during knowledge base search."
EDIT: I tried this again, and it seems I can't make a new support case because I couldn't register my product
