Alright so I believe I have an asus a55bm-a motherboard (thats what it says on the motherboard but on cpu-z it says i have a k30bf_m32bf motherboard??) With an a6 6400k processor, I want to upgrade to an athlon x4 860k. I checked my BIOS version by running "msinfo32" it says my bios version is 0302, and i need version 1901 for the new CPU... but on the website it says I have version 5002? http://www.asus.com/ca-en/Motherboards/A55BMAUSB3/HelpDesk_CPU/
Very confused... I also tried to update the bios with a bootable flash drive with the ez flash 2 after i downloaded and extracted the latest bios, and put the cap file in the flash drive but when i tried to update it, it said "security verification failed".

Then you can't update the BIOS with a version released for the board (even if same model).
Here's the ASUS page for
K30BF: http://www.asus.com/Desktops/K30BF/HelpDesk_Download/ and
M32BF: http://www.asus.com/Desktops/M32BF/HelpDesk_Download/
with the available BIOS versions.

An option would be replacing the board's BIOS chip.

Everthing said so far is not the easiest solution. I had this same problem and i figured out that if you go to https://www.asus.com/Tower-PCs/K30BF/HelpDesk_BIOS/. And then download this
Version 0602 2015/10/233.95 MBytes
Update BIOS version: 0602 (for A55 MB)
Model: K30BF/M32BF/K31BF
it works perfect with any cpu I needed it for an a10. The confusion is that there is many versions of this motherboard and the newest bios for it is not the newest choice on the asua support page. You go to scroll down to the one that works on the a55mb its half way down the page. Any other bios will give the "security verification failed"
