Hello guys!
I'm changing my broadband plan.So they mentioned that the speed is 10Mbps and the limit is 50GB.They also mentioned that Speed Post FUP is 512Kbps.I didn't understand that.So what is Speed Post FUP?
Can someone explain this in a detailed way?
Thanks in advance! :)

Solution

Your ISP speaks megabits and kilobits.
uTorrent speaks megabytes and kilobytes.

Approx 8:1 ratio.
So...512kilobits per sec from your ISP = ~64kilobytes from uTorrent.
Or 0.064 megabytes, reported by uTorrent.

In other words...dirt slow.
FUP is applicable on all unlimited data transfer plans. The data transfer continues to be unlimited, albeit at reduced speeds after FUP. Like mentioned before, FUP limits are imposed to ensure that the best quality of broadband is available to the maximum number of internet users.

It means once you hit your 50GB limit the transfer speed will be 512Kb/s instead of the 10Mb/s.

It varies depending on the exact language of your plan, but typically, what that's referring to is your speed (FUP stands for fair use policy) after you hit a predetermined bandwidth use. If your 50 GB a hard limit or one after which your speed is reduced to 512Kbps? Or possibly your ISP has a daily limit so you can't use your 50 GB all in a day.

Is this home internet? That plan is...less...than exciting. Is broadband availability limited in your area?

"Fair Use Policy"
They define 'Fair Use' as 50GB per month.

So if you go over that, you'll be slowed down to 512Kbps, until next month.

yes, once you used 50GB of date, your download speed will go from 10Mbps to 512Kbps and is shared with any thing and every body connecting via the internet connection.

512Kbps is just fast enough to browse the web and check email. But downloading, streaming, and online gaming will probably have to wait until it goes back up to 10Mbps at the beginning of the next billing cycle.

I think I'd cry - 512Kbps is about a third of what I was getting in 1998 after upgrading from dialup.
