So i just overclocked my i5 4690k and found a stable over clock at 4.2ghz with my voltage 1.15. Then went to put on adaptive mode an d it lowered voltage the 100% load from 1.15 to 1.05/ 1.07. I am using occt and prime 95. Also with adaptive mode on its running about 5-8 degrees cooler. What the hell is going on here boys??

Solution
The lower voltage is the cause of the lower temps. However, the voltage being lower that what it is set at in the BIOS by switching to adaptive is not normal, and may cause problems with stability if the voltage is too low. It should use whatever voltage you set in the BIOS.

Adaptive mode allows the voltage to be lowered during idle/low load situations. This helps with idle/low load temps, as well as lowering idle power consumption.
