Kingston Fury SSD, any good?

So, I've been looking to upgrade my storage for ages now. My hard drive which is over 9 years old is starting to show its age, being incredibly slow, and I've decided to make the jump first to an SSD, and keep all my other stuff on my current hard drive.

I was originally going to get the Intel 530 Series 120GB, as I had heard great things about it. However, having searched a bit more, it's come to my attention that the Kingston Fury 240GB is only £5 more and has twice the storage. They have the same controller, but slightly different NAND Flash Type, with the Intel SSD having synchronous MLC and the Fury having plain ol' MLC.

How big is the speed difference between these drives? I have about 160GB in total, with OS and games, so using the Intel drive leaves me with a few games left on the hard drive. Is it worth the extra speed?

It isn't a "top performer" - but it is a solid performer. In the US - they go for $119 normally - on sale at NewEgg for $99.99 and a $20 rebate.
I have used 6 Samsung 840 EVO drives (120GB) in 6 different computers for the last 1 1/2 years....worked great in all of them. The new 850 EVOs are even faster and more reliable (with a zero failure rate - it is a bit of an oxymoron to say it is more reliable....LOL). I also have two workstations at work that are using Crucial SSDs (240GB) that are first generation from 5-6 years ago (they were there when I started working for the company). Neither have failed at work either.

All that being said, a friend purchased a kingston SSD from Fry's here locally, and he had to exchange the drive 3 times before one worked solidly for him....and the last one hasn't failed in a year.

I highly recommend the Samsung drives - and Crucial would come a close second.

While I totally agree with both of you, I really can't budget it right now. It's either get a cheap 240GB drive and store everything on it, or get a top quality 120GB drive and store half my games on it.

Are there any 240GB drives for under £70 that you can recommend?
