Hi,
I am going to be getting a Mac for uni in september and i have a few questions.
I realise some of the software for my comp science course isnt avaliable on Mac e.g. 3D Studio Max? or at least that's what i have been told. We get a free copy so thats always good!

So i was going to use bootcamp to run both mac and windows at the same time.
Can i use an external hard drive to run windows on? or does it have to be on the SSD?
Is bootcamp better than parallels?

Any help would be appreciated

I am not going to change my mind and buy a windows machine, if i have to use the uni computers for 3D Studio Max then i will.

Cheers

Solution
I believe that it is possible, but you do have to jump through a few hoops. Google "Boot camp external drive". For graphics applications Boot Camp is better than virtualizing via Parallels or other products. I'd really advise that you use Boot Camp on the internal drive; just make sure you get a big enough drive for this.

Why bother to answer a question when you aren't going to provide any helpful info? I already said i realise it may be a problem and have given a backup option of using the uni computers, so no i dont not "want a problem"
