Hello, I have recently been experiencing crashes on my system, I at first put it down to a faulty PSU, but after further inspection this seems not to be the case.

When I built my PC I had very little idea about PC hardware and had no idea what I was doing, a friend of mine said that by overclocking the CPU I could get better performance. So I let him mess the with core clock and now I am having crashing issues.

Upon entering the BIOS I noticed he had used "ASUS EZ Mode" to boost my CPU up to 3.8Ghz which, from doing some reading, would not be safe with a stock cooler. The CPU seems to be running idle at about 60 degrees celcius which might explain the crashing when I load up more demanding applications.

I am fairly new to this, so if anyone could point in the right direction to lowering the clock speed back down to a normal level, I would appreciate it!

FX-6300 on an ASUS M5A97LE R2.0 motherboard using BIOS version 2.10.1208.

(I have tried to use the same "EZ mode" feature to lower the speed with no success)

Any help is great, thanks for reading :)
