I have a Gateway GT5238e Media Center Edition desktop. It is now running Windows 7 32 bit. It has an 4006153R Intel (Love Valley G) G965 Viiv Motherboard. It has the LGA775 processor socket, the G965 Express chipset, and an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU E6300 @1.86GHz. I have added ram to 5.5gb. Specs provided by Intel state:
"Gateway Love Valley G Motherboard 4006153R. This Motherboard Supports Intel Pentium 4, Pentium 4 HT, Pentium D, Celeron D, Core2 Extreme, and Core2 Duo processors."
Can I get a recommendation on a better Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor or a Core 2 Extreme processor and which would improve performance and handle larger resource requirements? Either one needs 1066 MHz FSB. The E6300 only has 2mb L2 cache memory. I get "cpu full" warnings often.
Please Help. I believe the processor is my Achilles' heel.
