with prices dropping and the price difference between the two cars, i could upgrade for about 45 dollars by selling my card for 100 and buying a barely used r9 280 for 145. im only wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade right now. the extra gb of vram sounds very appealing to me. I currently play at 1920x1080 and sometimes 5760x1080 on older games.
Current specs are :
i7 3770k @ 4.2ghz
z77x ud3h
16gb ram 1866mhz @ cl 9
240gb PNY optima ssd
thermaltake 860w psu
power consuption and CPU bottlenecks are not an issue. Im looking for pure framerate improvements. I was planning on dropping serious cash this summer on a new gpu, but i feel like its not neccessary if i can upgrade for so cheap. Is it worth it?
edit: one thing to note, is i plan to upgrade to a gtx 970/r9 290(x)/r9 3XX this summer for overkill performance on 1080p and adaquete performance at 5760x1080, but upgrading to r9 280 from 750 ti will just tide me over till i absolutely need the performance. so the real question is do i upgrade now for 45 bucks or do i just wait?
