Bad Idle Temps

So I'm a little concerned about idle temps.

My apartment is pretty hot, so I do consider this when I'm watching temps, but I've tried every remedy I can to compensate for this room temperature of maybe 75+ degrees.

I bought a Corsair H100i radiator and this has not changed my CPU temp at all from my stock Intel i5 heat sink. I anticipated the temps to drop considerably.
My idle CPU temps according to CPUID is 40c. Corsair Link says 38c. My GPU is EVGA Geforce GTX 980 and it idles at CPUID: 38c , Corsair Link: 37c

I have an external fan I bought from the store blowing air into it all the time. I even will turn my fans up and it hardly changes.

When gaming my processor gets to the higher 40's and my card gets to the 70s and could peak at 79 (all celcius)

I am just dumbfounded at my idle temps and feel like there is something wrong. I've double checked my wires, I've made sure that everything was detected by my machine. Everything is working but its not giving me the results I wanted.

I didn't, however, apply thermal paste my CPU when I put on the pump. Mainly because the pump already had some paste on it and the instructions didn't say otherwise.
I just bought my new GPU as well, and I am very concerned about its idle temps.

Something just doesn't seem right. Thanks for any help.

those Temps aren't that hot tbh, apart from the idle which is quite possibly due to the fact your pc is circulating hot air but I wouldn't worry too much, you can try replacing the thermal paste on the pump to see if that help, more expensive stuff can have better heat transfer properties which could take a few degrees out but don't expect 15 degree temp drops from it

just talking about the cpu here, I'm not sure about the temp limits on that GPU, but I want to say 80 is were it throttles to cool its self off
