Hello

So I have a new system with a i7 4790K and will use it for graphic design, 3D design and rendering and movie making. Some gaming. I have a GTX660 now.

I asked before about some good choices to get and it was suggested to get a GTX970 if I could.

Well I am not sure if I will beable to get that or not.

I might only be able to get a 960 at this time. I have a 23in 1080p IPS monitor. Later I will upgrade to a 1440p monitor. When I do, than I know ill need a better gpu to game well at that size.

But I am thinking I need something now. The software I use, uses as much cuda cores as you can give it. Photo shop, Blender, and other software.

Is the 960 ok even with the 128bit bus or am I better off just holding onto the 660 that I have now until I can get a better card? That is about 3 to 4 months away. I want a gpu that is good for gaming too.

Honestly, I've been asking the same thing the last couple weeks. Based on my research, the gtx 960 will do well for the monitor you mentioned. the 128-bit bus is low compared to cards the like 970, but the way it's made it uses the 128-bit very efficiently. So if you think you need it now and can't get the 970, the 960 will do fine. Maybe not perfect for things like 3D design, but my opinion is that it would work fine.
